The story

It started with a single basil plant on a windowsill in a tiny apartment.

I had no garden. No yard. No "green thumb" at least that's what I'd been telling myself for years. But that one little basil plant, stubborn and hopeful, refused to give up on me. It grew. It thrived.

That basil changed everything.

I started reading. Then experimenting. Then drowning seedlings and over-watering ferns until I learned the difference between caring for a plant and caring about it. Soon my windowsill became a balcony jungle, and the balcony spilled onto a friend's backyard, and the backyard became this strange, joyful patchwork of pots and beds and trellises I'd cobbled together from whatever I could find.

And then the questions started.

"Where do you get your tools?" "What's the best light for an apartment?" "How do you keep this all alive?"

I realized something: a lot of us want to grow things. We just don't know where to start, and the gardening world can feel weirdly gate-kept — full of expensive boutique brands or mystery-quality bargain bins with no in-between.
